This is the 2nd year Friends of Camp Colton has partnered with the Building Materials Class at Sinagua High School and HomCo Ace Home Center to build a great shed to be raffled off as a fund raiser for Friends of Camp Colton. The Shed will be on display at the Home Show next weekend and tickets will be sold for $10 each or 3 for $25 or 14 for $100. Only 2800 tickets will be sold.
Sinagua High School Teacher Keith Nicolson directs the students during the entire building process. The students are involved with planning from the beginning and the construction from the floor to the finishing touches. Many of the students who worked on the shed have attended Camp Colton when they were in the 6th grade and feel this is a way to "give back" for their experience at Camp Colton.

Students from 2007 inspect their work
The 2008 shed measures 8' by 10' and is approximately 10' tall.
"This is the second year for this shed project," according to Jane Emberty, President of FOCC. "The community has really embraced our efforts." This year our sponsors include HomCo Ace Home Center, Northern Arizona Building Association, Carpets of Dalton and Gingrich and Daughters Painting, INC. as well as the Building Materials Class at Sinagua High School.
The curriculum for this project has been recognized by Coconino Community College and students who build the shed will receive dual credit at CCC, if they enroll at the college. Doug Allen, Career & Technical Education ASsociate with FUSD has been instrumental in helping to pull all the pieces together in this collaboration. "Without Doug's help, we wouldn't have had near the success we have seen," says Emberty.
Tickets are available through the CAmp Colton office or by calling 928-527-6102 or 928-526-5056. The raffle drawing will be on May 5, 2008. All financial donations are accepted and proceeds benefit Camp Colton.
"Transportation: Shed will be transported to the Home and Garden Show and will be on display from March 28 to March 30. It will then be returned to HomCo for storage until it is auctioned on May 5, 2008. Delivery will be free within 10 miles of Flagstaff for the winner. Regular delivery charges apply if outside the area.
