Friends of Camp Colton is a non-profit organization established to support the Camp
Colton - Project LIFE environmental education program.
Project LIFE (Life In the Flagstaff Environment) has been an integral part of public instruction in Flagstaff since 1971. This outdoor, experiential program for sixth grade students is located on Hart Prairie, an area rich in wildlife and plant diversity, providing an excellent opportunity for students to experience nature.
The Camp Colton-Project LIFE program meets objectives in the Arizona Academic Standards for sixth grade education in the natural sciences, as well as objectives in health, workplace, physical education, social studies, and the arts. Equally important is the focus on team-building and the sense of personal responsibility that is gained by having students interact in small teaching groups, explore and investigate the natural environment, and share living space in a primitive setting for one week.
